Louise Christine Jutz born Geneva 1863.

Louise Christine Jutz was born in the French sector of Geneva, Switzerland in 1863.

Her mother was Elizabeth who was born in Somerset, England and probably married 'Mr Jutz' around 1860 when they moved to Geneva to live and start a family. It is well documented that Louise was a music scholar in Switzerland but it is not clear when she studied.

"In 1886, Dr Mansfield married Mdlle. Jutz, a bright and very attractive lady. She is a medalist in pianoforte playing at the Conservatoire of Geneva, her native city. She is also an experienced contralto vocalist and a solo violoncello player........."

However, the 1881 Census of England lists Elizabeth as a widow and running a lodging house at 16 Buckingham Place, Clifton, Gloucester, and Louise as a trainee Governess and 18 years of age. Nothing is known of Mr Jutz and there is no evidence of any other family.

Louise and Orlando Mansfield probably met through their shared love of music and they married on the 28th December 1886 and settled in Torquay in Devon.
